PlanWell Enterprise & PDS Contrast

What are the differences between PDS and Enterprise?

PlanWell PDS is designed to be an inexpensive stand-alone Web-enabled plan distribution system that works primarily from a “Most Current Set” of documents. Enterprise is a fully integrated reprographic production tool designed to handle all of the production work and administration a reprographer would perform with a “project on file,” as well as handling the online planroom function.

The functional differences between PDS&Enterprise lie primarily in the document management, administrative and production functions. From a technology standpoint, PDS’s architecture is designed as a self-hosted, completely contained application vs. Enterprise’s co-hosted wholly supported model.

PDS is a one-shop, stand-alone system, designed to run on a desktop computer with a scaled down version of Microsoft’s SQL Server software without a formal e-commerce system. It does not have any remote database administration or physical connection to the PlanWell Network Operations Center.
